New West modern condo

New Westminster Modern Condo in the sky

This awesome client bought this 30 year old condo with the intention of a full renovation.

She had a clear vision and had already been working with an architect on the layout and kitchen design.

I was hired to design

  • light fixtures
  • plumbing fixtures
  • material selection
  • colours and finishes
  • interior doors, hardware
  • window coverings
  • interior decor (custom cushions, upholstery, bedding)
  • picture hanging
  • display of objets

A great collaboration!

I love my clients African artwork and tiny shots of red.

My client was thrilled we got our “whites right” which is so important – if the whites are not in the same family, something ends up looking slightly dirty or yellow…  I love this modern kitchen and work with the custom cabinetry company. We selected the door colour, counter colour, hardware, lighting, sink and faucet (not shown opposite wall).  With a gallery feel, I thought this was the perfect spot of her carved bird statue from Africa.

Clients vision of open concept with wall removed,  Brilliant!

I love how this master bathroom turned out – we had a great time selecting all of these fixtures and that is actually a ready made cabinet.  And yes, artwork in the bathroom.

Ensuite bathroom – we selected the cabinet, counter sink, faucet and the fixtures in the shower including a fantastic wall mounted flip down acrylic seat.  How do you like the mirror with the built in lights?  This room did not have a square wall, all funny angles – I suggested the cabinet that was intended for the wall with the artwork move to another wall which made the space feel more open. (seen in mirror)

Guest bathroom.  We selected a wall mount cabinet to keep this small, windowless bathroom as open as possible.

master bedroom – I suggested building out the wall almost as a headboard, to enable the client to have bedside tables on both sides (corner post did not allow).  Custom bedskirt and euro shams.

Beautiful embroidered linen custom euros

Sunset in the living room, with a gorgeous view of the Fraser River.  My client spent several years living in Africa and has wonderful artwork and sculptures that I had great fun finding homes for.  I love the bold sofa and teak dining table that the client already owned.  We selected the modern, minimal lighting throughout.

Finishing touches – many clients do not go the full distance, as this client did – custom cushions that tie together the artwork and the newly upholstered chaise.  That last 10% of the decor such as the accessories and the custom cushions and window coverings can make the design sing.

I love the glass doors we selected seen behind sofa.

While we looked for alternate chaise lounges for this little nook that the client loves to sit in and read, this one was so comfortable and fit the nook perfectly so we opted to upholster instead.  With a brilliant orange sofa, we did not wish to compete with that, this pattern perfectly tied into the accessories and artwork and will be forgiving of the newsprint.

Custom cushion – perfect colours and texture.

Celebrating completion of the completed home.

Vignette in the bedroom – More treasures from Africa.
